Boost The Natural Light
Great lighting is absolutely essential in an office environment. After all, if your employees can’t see properly, then they’re going to strain their eyes, which could lead to permanent damage. However, that doesn’t mean that you should give each member of your team a lamp and send them on their way. Natural light is much better than artificial, as it improves productivity, boosts energy levels, and improves sleep. Because of this, you should try to boost natural light instead.
Provide Quiet Work Rooms
More often than not, an open plan office is incredibly beneficial for your team. However, there are going to be times when such a layout causes disruption and affects the concentration of specific employees. During these times, it’s important that you have a quiet space for your employees to retreat to. This means that your employees will find it easier to focus, so their mood and productivity should improve.
Add Areas To Relax
Although your office is for work, all of your employees should have somewhere to relax and have fun during their breaks and between tasks. Speak to your employees and ask them what sorts of things they would like in recreational areas in your office. Some might ask for gym equipment, others might suggest a ping pong table, and others may simply want a quiet place to read. You won’t be able to accommodate every suggestion, but there will be some you could try.

Of course, you can set some boundaries so that things don’t go over the top, but things like plants, personal photos, and other trinkets won’t do any harm and can make the space a lot more appealing. You can also let your team pick their own office chair and decide whether they want an adjustable or standing desk.

Your employees will feel a lot happier and be a lot more motivated to help you if they believe you genuinely care about them. Because of this, it’s important that you introduce an open-door policy and try to be there to talk whenever your staff needs to. Make sure every member of your team understands that you’re there for them whenever they have feedback, a concern, or a question. You should also regularly touch base with every member of staff and check that they’re okay.
Offer Flexible Working Hours
Although nine to five working hours may be the norm, they’re not necessarily the most productive, at least for some of your employees. Some would much rather come to work earlier and leave earlier, some would rather come in later and stay later, and others would prefer to work longer hours on fewer days. Because of this, you should try to be a little more flexible about your hours and let the staff decide when they want to work when possible.
